it’s been a year…

How time flies…
Last year we had an extraordinary, out of the ordinary, holiday season. Check it out below:

home for the holidays

No tree.
No gifts.
No family.
No friends.
No travel.
No holiday food.
No other homes.
No parties.
No guests.
Lots of invitations.

This year we are at home.
This year we welcome a new member to the family so simplicity is key.
This year things are unconventional.

Am I sad? Probably not.
Am I missed? Probably not.
Am I forgotten? Probably not.

I think back on all the holiday seasons we’ve celebrated — boy, are there many.
Big meals, fancy travels, handful of clinked glasses “We made it!”, wintery paintings outside, laughter, food coma, hearts filled, games played.

It’s all good.
Life is good.
Life is ever changing.
Life steers us to silence and then returns us to the masses just when we need it.

How about puffy blankets and movies we’ve missed?
How about guilt-free meanderings?
How about long walks in a new area of the ‘hood?
What would you like to do on your day off that you’ve let slide this year?
Yup, it’s catch up time.

Happy Holidays to all.
